Over the past 18 months with the COVID pandemic causing havoc around the globe, a lot of business owners have decided to convert their businesses online (& some even starting up online!).
One of the most under-utilised platforms for marketing your online business is Pinterest. Build it up and use it correctly and it can skyrocket your web traffic, brand recognition, community members and even your sales.
Pinterest can be a great tool to promote your brand and why I am so passionate about helping you gain the knowledge to utilise it!
Here are 5 basic tips on how to grow your Pinterest in 2021:
1. Profile Name, Photo & Bio
These three things are super important elements of your Pinterest profile. You want to ensure that you leave a good impression with your audience when they stumble upon your account and your pins.
Your profile name will help you be recognised and searchable, while a good description will lead you to the right audience.
Don’t forget to use a high-quality headshot photo of yourself as the business owner, so you are able to stand out amongst your competitors and look super profesh!
2. Optimising Pinterest Boards
Your Pinterest pins are organised by what Pinterest calls “boards”. These are collections of pins on a specific topic. Aside from being a way to sort your pins, it will also help you optimise your account SEO by using keywords throughout the board titles and descriptions. So don’t forget to pick board titles including words that people actually search for in the search field. This will give you a better chance to show up in search results!
Additional thing to take note of is the optional “Board Cover” that will make your boards look more cohesive. Not necessary, but I think sleek, on brand board covers can add to the visual appeal of your account and make it look more established.
3. Pinterest SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)
Using the right keywords that match your content will help show up in the news feeds of the right audience. Take time to research keywords that your ideal clients are entering in the search field when they are looking for solutions to their problems or inspiration for their ideas. With the right keywords scattered in your boards, pins and account, your pins will be viewed favourably, not only by pinners but by Pinterest itself.

4. Desirable Visuals
Great visuals!
You can make your posts more visually appealing by using graphic design programs such as Canva. Aside from it being free, you can choose from many templates and images to use with their easy graphic-designing tools.
It will definitely help your pins to skyrocket their clicks!
5. Using Scheduling Tools
A lot of people give up on Pinterest too quickly, saying that it did not work for them. Please remember that Pinterest is a search engine and it will not give you immediate results like social media. It needs to build up traction over time and in order to do that you need to be consistent and pinning EVERY DAY.
There are tools out there that can help you with this. My preference is Tailwind. It enables you to streamline your pinning process and schedule your pins more efficiently. It can post up to 50 pins a day or you could customise your own schedule of pinning. Believe me, it will save you a lot of time.
These tips should help you get you moving in the right direction with your Pinterest account. Growing your Pinterest may take some time but putting the effort and passion into it will take you to high places!
