Consistency is one of the key success factors for Pinterest – but in order to be consistent you need to understand exactly what you can pin to Pinterest and what the purpose of pinning it is (there is no point in pinning any old content for no reason now is there?!?!)
Pinterest is so beneficial for your business that once you upload a pin to the platform, it’s on there for LIFE! I have pins from 5+ years ago that still send me traffic and MAKE ME MONEY and build my email list to this day. BUT you need to be adding the right content with the right call to action associated with it, in order to do this.
I work for clients in all sorts of niches and everyone drives traffic to various types of pages and items. So I want this blog post to inspire you with ideas on what you can add on Pinterest and what you can drive traffic to.
1. Blog Posts
This is an obvious one, as Pinterest is a big platform for content creators and a place that many users go to get advice on various blogging topics. It’s best practice to optimise your profile to fit in with your blogging niche and to hide or delete any boards that do not pertain to what you blog about.
The cool thing is when you start ranking on Pinterest with specific keywords, you can also rank on Google and other search engines as well, for FREE – so your blog posts can feature on the first few pages of Google through Pinterest – cool right?
2. Email Lists
Linked to the blog posts, make sure that your popular blog posts have an email sign-up. Whether it is to download a freebie or just an email pop-up asking to subscribe to your blog/newsletter (downloadable templates work really well!). The majority of my email list subscribers come from Pinterest.
3. Services
Are you a VA? A coach? A content creator? If you offer a service when it comes to your business, you can 100% use Pinterest to grow your clientele. You can either drive traffic to a “work with me,” page, service page or you can even promote your services in a blog post. It’s a great way to promote the services you offer.
4. Product
If you sell products rather than services you can promote them on Pinterest as well! You can direct the link to the product page itself or you can include the product links with any relevant blog posts that you may have used to review or discuss the products. Don’t get disheartened when you don’t get huge sales immediately. Be patient, build up that traffic and you will start to see a shift I promise!
5. Youtube
One of the newer features on Pinterest is the ability to link your account on Youtube – a great way to grow your channel as. If they like your videos they can subscribe to your Youtube directly. Plus, in the Youtube description box, you can add more links so that you can send them on a trail through your different blog posts, to your freebies, or your product or service pages – which may even end up turning into an email subscriber!
6. Tiktok/Instagram Reels & Stories
These platforms have reels and stories that you can make videos with and add them to your idea pins on Pinterest for inspiration. While you can’t directly link your TikTok account (yet) you can use your ‘idea’ pins to give users instructions on how to follow you on TikTok/Instagram.
I hope these 6 things give you some inspiration on the type of content you can add to your account to drive that traffic.
Do feel free to share with me what works best for you when driving traffic to your Pinterest!
